Update 7/1/03
I recently completed scoring American Made, directed by Sharat Raju and starring Bernard White (Film roles include The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions, The Scorpion King, Pay It Forward, TV Appearances include "24", "Alias" "CSI Miami" "The West Wing"). Post-production is nearly finished at this writing, and the film will be showing at Hollywood's prestigious Arclight Cinema later this year. It tells the story of a family looking for help in post-9/11 America. Although the film is just now completing post, it has already won the Richard P. Rogers Spirit of Excellence Award at AFI! One of the many delightful things for me about this film was that it called for the use of some Indian instrumentation. I had a wonderful opportunity to work with fellow musician Aalok Mehta. I recorded Aalok performing the sitar, and later incorporated his playing into one of my cues. Much of the score was performed on guitar, tabla, and piano. I've included some clips below, and welcome your feedback!
The cast also features Te'amir Johannes Sweeney (The Scorpion King), Sakina Jaffrey (The Truth about Charlie, The Guru, The Mystic Masseur), Kal Penn (Homeland Security, The Arrangement, Van Wilder), and Haskell V. Anderson III (Life, A Civil Action, The Court-Martial of Jackie Robinson) | ![]() |

Update 6/10/03
|
Seal Island has been doing very nicely on the festival circuit. It recently won awards at the International Wildlife Film Festival in Montana. Seal Island tells the story of photographer Chris Fallows and his remarkable quest to document the behavior of South Africa's jumping great white sharks. Imagine a 3-ton great white jumping 10 into the air with a seal in its mouth! This film was a real treat to score. Lots of world beat and new age flavors! Direcctor Todd Ulmer and I recently completed a new short-format version of the film that clocks in at just over 10 minutes. Even over a year later, I still get a rush watching those sharks come flying over the boats! |

Screenings were recently held at the Tiburon International Film Festival, the San Diego Latino Film Festival, and the Newport Beach Film Festival. But the rate of screenings and awards has been so fast that I have been unable to keep this page current! Information on the first batch of festivals is available through the links below, and you can even watch a trailer by clicking here. Dreaming in Black and White is directed by Joseph G. Eckhardt and stars Malik Yoba (New York Undercover, Copland, Cool Runnings, Soul Food, Law & Order).
